She Escobar
She Escobar is a photographer based in the Philippines whose work is rooted in a human-centered approach, moving between the realms of everyday life, culture, and the natural world. Through careful observation and integrity, her work seeks to honour humanity with empathy and dignity.
Her work has appeared on the front cover of Black+White Photography magazine and has received multiple Honorable Mentions from the International Photography Awards (IPA), including distinctions in People: Portraits, Nature: Landscapes, and People: Children. She was also awarded an Honorable Mention in the Deeper Perspective category for a photographic essay documenting the lives of potters in Sagada, Philippines. Her work has also been recognised by Leica Fotografie International (LFI) through multiple curated Gallery Selections and an LFI Mastershot. She has been nominated for Hundred Heroines, an international initiative by The Royal Photographic Society honouring women whose work contributes meaningfully to the field of photography.
Over the decades, she has pursued immersive long-term documentary projects, working closely with locals and living in communities she documents. These experiences continue to inform her photographic practice, shaping a way of seeing that is grounded in presence, connection, and congruence, ensuring that her approach, engagement with subjects, and the resulting images reflect the integrity of her vision.
